Hey Gingers and Happy First Day of Spring!
Every time the seasons change and especially when Winter moves aside for Spring I look at my daily routines. What has been working, what needs to change, and what products are giving me life. I usually focus on two main categories Hair Care and Skin Care.
Today I am going to focus on hair care; more importantly what I have been using and how I have been using it. I have included some $$$ options as well as $ options. I always look for good quality products and ones that are going to give me control, decrease frizz, and keep my hair healthy.
The Test: I have been making a big push in 2019 to only use products that are cruelty-free (do not test on animals), free of harsh chemicals (sulfate, parabens, phthalates, and silicones) , and do not damage hair or skin.
Confession: I feel like I should mention that I only wash my hair once a week and I am always trying to lengthen that time. My dream is to only have to wash my hair once or twice a month! Ha! I know that is a lot but I truly HATE washing and drying my hair. So all of these products last me a long time, well except that dry shampoo. Anyone else?
Lets Talk Products:
1-In The Shower
Scalp Scrub: I don’t know how I lived before this product! You only have to use it once a week so it lasts forever. It helps to remove product buildup from your scalp (hello all that dry shampoo) as well as any flacks/dandruff. Which I admittedly am always afraid people will notice and since using this I do not notice any stray flakes. This stuff smells amazing, is not harsh, and really does remove all the gross stuff on your scalp! ($)
Deep Conditioning Mask: I was recently introduced to this Brand and instantly loved them. I use this deep conditioner instead of regular old conditioner when I wash my hair. I apply it to the ends of my hair and go about my normal shower routine, and then rinse at the end. It leaves my hair super soft and cuts down on frizzing at strand ends. ($$)
2-Before The Heat
Leave in Conditioner: This stuff helps to keep my hair moisturized and frizz free. I actually spray a small amount into my hand and then work through my hair instead of spraying directly on hair. Bonus: it smells so freaking good! I don’t know why but I think Ouai products have the best scents. ($$)
Blow Dry Spray: Truthfully, I have been cutting down on the amount of times I blow-dry my hair. I find that it feels healthier when I let it dry naturally before styling the next day. But, when I do heat style my hair this is the first thing I grab. It helps to protect without adding bulk to your hair. And it really does make your hair super shiney! ($)
Squalane Oil: So this oil is not technically for hair but I use it anyway. Ha! It is completely clean and really does protect the ends of my hair. I typically use this more when I am not blow drying my hair so that frizz stays down as it dries naturally. Bonus: it can also be used once dry on fly-aways, on your skin or hands when they are dry, and to shave your legs! ($$$)
3-The Next Day…or Four Days Later
Clean-Freak Dry Shampoo: If you are not using this dry shampoo literally everyday of your life at all times…what are you even doing with your life? No really…what are you doing? I feel like this is the one dry shampoo that is universally loved, works on all hair types, is an amazing price point, and will change your life. Just go buy it and stop washing your hair everyday! ($)
Gold Lust Dry Shampoo: Okay, so I kept getting samples of this dry shampoo, seeing reviews everywhere, and heard all the good things. But, I just could not stomach the cost of this product…and then I caved! I have no regrets. I have been using this same bottle for 4 months, it instantly makes my hair look clean, and is helping to lengthen the time in between washes. So I will probably end up buying it for the remainder of my life. ($$$)
I hope that you got something out of this post and discovered at least one new product. I feel like you can combine any of these products in your hair care routine. And all of them will add a little something extra to what you are already doing.
And no matter what your #hairgoals this Spring remember to always treat your hair with love.
Also if you have any hair related questions, let us know! I love talking hair and learning about other peoples hair care most haves.
Now go outside and thank Spring for kicking Winter out of the party!
